The Leaf River Village purchased the old U.B. Church located on the highway of Rt. 72 and Garfield St. in Leaf River... It now houses the Leaf River Museum and is center for the Leaf River Historical Society. |
The U.B. Church was built in Leaf River in 1894, when the radicals and liberals split at the Lightsville church, the radicals constructed a church in Leaf River. The land was donated by Henry Schelling and was originally part of the Gaffin Addition. A new addition was built in 1976-77. It provided Sunday School classrooms and a nursery on the main floor. More classrooms, and a kitchen and dining area were provided in the basement. The original parsonage was sold at this time to Rudolf Hartje. The Leaf River Church is a two-point charge with the Adeline United Brethren Church. |
